Yellow perch has been widely stocked. However, there is some evidence that it may be native to the southeast.

Basin Distribution in Georgia:

In Georgia, occurs in the Tennessee, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Chattahoochee, Flint, Ocmulgee, Oconee, Altamaha, and Savannah River Basins.
