Native range of the spotted sunfish in Georgia includes all Atlantic slope streams and Gulf slope streams east of the Apalachicola.

In Georgia, occurs in the Ochlockonee, Suwannee, St. Marys, Satilla, Ocmulgee, Oconee, Altamaha, Ogeechee, and Savannah River basins.
